MEET THE FOUNDER
Mark Bednarczyk
Founder & CEO
Mark Bednarczyk brings 30 years of network architecture, management, and security experience—plus 40 years as a programmer—to Sly Technologies.
Before founding Sly Technologies, Mark designed enterprise networks for some of the most demanding environments in tech. At Silicon Graphics, he oversaw network and security integration during the merger with Cray Computers, and designed networking infrastructure for SGI's Mountain View campus—buildings that later became the famous Googleplex.
His global experience includes designing and deploying networks for facilities in Dublin, Munich, Paris, London, Boulder, and Australia. Earlier in his career, Mark served as Network Manager at Xilinx, where he led massive CableTron and Cisco network upgrades, and worked on classified projects at SRI International.
Mark holds a BS in Computer Science and Business Administration from Oklahoma Central University and Golden Gate University. He founded Sly Technologies with a vision: codify decades of network expertise into open-source and commercial products that benefit developers worldwide.
Our Mission
Bring high-performance network packet processing to the Java programming language—and beyond.
What started as jNetPcap, an open-source libpcap wrapper for Java, has evolved into a comprehensive platform for network capture and analysis at any scale. With ExaScale, we're pushing the boundaries of what's possible: 800 Gbps capture rates, 100 exabyte virtual filesystems, and AI-powered analytics.
Our goal is simple: give developers and enterprises the tools to see, understand, and secure their networks—without compromise.
Our Journey
2005 — Founded in California
Started with jNetPcap, bringing professional packet capture to Java developers.
2015 — Napatech Partnership
Became exclusive reseller for Napatech SmartNIC adapters in US and Canada. Shared exhibition booths at industry conventions.
2018 — jNetWorks Launch
Released high-performance capture SDK with DPDK and SmartNIC support, achieving 800 Gbps throughput.
2024 — ExaScale Development
Began development of ExaScale, our flagship enterprise platform for exabyte-scale packet capture and analysis.
2025 — Reincorporated in Florida
Relocated headquarters to Tampa, FL. Major expansion in 2026.

What We Build
Our focus has always been bringing high-speed network packet processing to Java—though we have native C/C++ libraries in development as well.
Today, all our efforts are converging on ExaScale: an enterprise platform that combines everything we've learned into a single, powerful solution for network visibility at any scale.
Open Source Commitment
We believe in transparency and community. Our open-source libraries are available on GitHub, and jNetPcap is published on Maven Central for easy integration.
