40 GbE Packet Capture & Replay Adapter
Product: NT40E2-1 (datasheet, feature descriptions)
The NT40E2-1 Capture Adapter is a high-performance 1 x 40 Gbps intelligent PCIe Gen2 network analysis adapter for Capture & Replay applications. The NT40E2-1 intelligent network adapter provides a single QSFP+ 40 GbE port and can be used for both packet capture and transmission.
Designed for Off-the-Shelf Standard Servers
The NT40E2-1 Capture Adapter is based on a low-profile hardware design and can be installed in almost any standard server.
High-Speed Packet Capture and Transmit
The NT40E2-1 is based on a PCIe Gen2 interface with 25 Gbps bus capacity. Nevertheless, 40 Gbps packet capture at full line-rate is possible in burst situations ensuring zero packet loss. Packet transmission up to the PCIe bus limit is possible allowing 2 x NT40E2-1 network adapters to be used in Inline applications.
Intelligent flow identification, filtering and distribution
Intelligent features for frame decoding, flow idenfiication, flow filtering and distribution to 32 CPU cores allow the NT40E2-1 to off-load and accelerate customer applications.
Plug-and-Play Capability
The NT40E2-1 supports the same API, feature set and capabilities as existing Napatech 10 Gbps network adapters allowing OEM customers to support 40G on a plug-and-play basis.
Precise Time Stamp
The NT40E2-1 Capture supports 10 ns time-stamping of both captured and transmitted frames. Timing can be synchronized to GPS, CDMA or IEEE 1588v2/PTP. An external SMA time synchronization connector is complemented by two internal time synchronization connectors allowing daisy-chain distribution of timing signals.
Capture and Replay Features
40 Gbps packet capture and transmit with zero packet loss
Zero-copy DMA transfer to host memory with cache-hit optimization
Intelligent flow filtering and distribution to up to 32 CPU cores
Merging, dynamic slicing and deduplication of traffic
Frame decoding of VLAN, ISL, MPLS, Ethernet, IPv4, IPv6, GTP, GRE, SCTP
Generation and verification of Ethernet, IP, UDP and TCP checksums
